Anita Fay Hamelin was born on August 22, 1947, to the union of Roy Pryor and Juanita Pryor Scruggs in Victoria, Tennessee and Frank Scruggs.

Anita left Tennessee with her mother at an early age to Pontiac, Michigan.  She attended Pontiac Public Schools.  In 1965 she graduated from Pontiac Central High School.  She later Married Joshua W. Hamelin and to this union 5 children were born.  Angela, Stephanie, Anthony, Stephen and LaWanda Hamelin.

Anita Fay Hamelin departed this life on March 4, 2023 in Pontiac, Michigan.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Juanita Pryor and Frank Scruggs, daughter; Stehanie Hamelin, brothers; Roy L. Pryor and James R. Pryor, uncles; Robert Spears, Eugene Pryor, George Scruggs, Homer Pryor, Rufus Christal Spears and Homer Greer, aunts; Alma Pryor, Goldie Scruggs, Ophelia Ware and  Susie Spears.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her children, Angela D. Hamelin, LaWanda M. Hamelin, Anthony D. Hamelin and Stephen M. (Shonya) Hamelin. 9 grandchildren; Anthony Jr., Demontay, Nathaniel, DonaldJr., Stephen Jr., Michael, Raven, Antwan and Sonja, 12 great-grandchildren, her sister; Carrie A. Saunders, brother-in-law; Kaiser Hamelin, 3 nieces, 1 nephew.  Also survived by a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special honorary granddaughter; Alyssa Bellmore.

Anita Fay Hamelin Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 10:30am at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road in Pontiac, Michigan, family hour will start at 10:00am.  Internment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan.
