Blanche Elizabeth Bogan Teasley was born in Metropolis, Illinois on April 22, 1940, to the late Thomas Hughes and Rosie Lee Bogan.  She departed this life at 10:48 am on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland in Pontiac, Michigan.

Blanche accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and was baptized at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac. She later joined Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, with her youngest children in tow, where she served on several ministries until she made her transition. Blanche loved God, her family, her community, and her church; this love was reflected in how she lived her daily life.

Blanche was a graduate of Pontiac Schools and the University of Michigan School of Nursing in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She served as a Registered Nurse at Pontiac General Hospital, retiring as the Head Nurse for the Oncology Unit.  Immediately thereafter, she joined the Occupational Health Team at General Motors in Lake Orion, Michigan until she retired for the final time to travel the world. Blanche loved to travel as much as she loved her family, exploring several continents, enjoying cruises of all kinds, and frequently visiting family residing in other states. If you ever visited her home, she was surrounded by photo albums and globes, representing the various places she traveled, and gifts received from loved ones. She shared with all the importance of experiencing the world.

Blanche married her middle school sweetheart, Pelzie Lawrence Teasley, Sr., in 1958 and produced a tribe of five boys and one girl. She will forever be remembered for her trademark white afro, twinkling eyes, bright smile and warm greeting coupled with a big bear hug and a kiss. You knew when you left her presence you were sincerely loved. Although she was a nurse by trade, she was always the on-call Doctor for the family, nursing bruises, diagnosing ailments, sitting bedside and healing wounds. She spent her free time reading devotionals, watching game shows and happy endings on the Hallmark Channel, learning about her favorite athlete and activist Muhammad Ali, collecting teapots, reading greeting cards, mentoring young ladies, contributing to charities, calling to check on family and friends, and eating an 11 o'clock snack with coffee during the evening news.

Blanche leaves to cherish her memory and honor her legacy: her sons Pelzie (Toni) Teasley, Jr. and Rory (Lola Marie) Teasley, and only daughter Dr. Traci Elizabeth Teasley of Pontiac; two beloved sisters, Bessie Davis of Pontiac, and Tommi Stephens of Raritan, New Jersey; childhood friends, Shaylor Ray and Dorothy Herron, and lunch buddy, Ruthie Walker of Pontiac; seventeen grandchildren, nearly two dozen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Blanche's husband, Pelzie Teasley, Sr., three sons Vincent Teasley, Sr., Delwyn Teasley, Sr., Eric Teasley, and sister, Carolyn Carpenter preceded her in death.

Blanche was a mother to many, a friend to all, and a tremendous gift to the world!

Mother Teasley will lie in repose on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Cobb's Funeral Home, at 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Funeral services for Mother Teasley will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Welcome Missionary Baptist Church 143 Oneida Street, Pontiac, Michigan; family hour will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the Homegoing Celebration.
