Booker Taliferro Whitfield, III, affectionately known as "Jackie",, was born on November 11, 1957 at Meharry Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.  He was the first son born to Patricia Whitfield-Payne and Booker T. Whitfield, Jr.,   He departed this life on August 13, 2020, he was preceded in death by his beloved mother, his father, brothers;  Arthur Kennedy, Bernard Dean and William Timothy Whitfield, sister, Mary "Le Le" Whitfield and Leslie Jackson, his aunts; Gizelle and Amie.

Booker also attended Pontiac Business Institute.  Booker never met a stranger and everyone who knew Booker knew that he was the self-taught, self employed, glorified mechanic for the entire City of Pontiac.   He had a million dollar smile that would light up any room, he loved to dance and absolutely LOVED Jazz music !   Also Chene park, concert series and would attend as many as he could, if he couldn't catch a ride, he'd catch the bus, whatever it took to get there.  To know him was to love him and wherever he went, he always brought the party with him.

Booker knew the word of God from front to back.  He would often take over Sunday school class and served as a vacation bible school teacher.  Booker loved to listen to the Ministry of Bishop T.D. Jakes and Joyce Meyer.

Booker leaves so many to cherish his memory, his children, Booker T. Whitfield, IV and Jackie (Hubertus) Standifer, his dad, Lee B. Payne; his siblings; Rodney Whitfield, Theresa Mosley, Johnella Whitfield, Patricia "Nikkie" Whitfield, his aunts & uncles; Johnella Embry, John (Cynthia) Whiteside, Marcus Barry (Charlene) Whiteside, Vivian Thomas, Anita Whiteside, Berna Whiteside and Alan Whiteside, five grandchildren; Tysean, Tavon, Jonathan, Tyrell Whitfield  and Anyla Standifer, a special nephew, Milton "Nuk" Whitfield, god-siblings; Kyle Dixon and Kidadah Harsten, special friends; Bro. Thomas and Danny Wallace.  Also survived by a host of other loving relatives and friends

Mr. Whitfield will lie in repose on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan, from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Cobb's Funeral Home Rev. Terrance Gowdy officiating.  Family hour will start at 10 a.m. prior to the service and the internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan.

As a global concern about Coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to have a impact on our community, we are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of the families we serve and the community in general.  Some families are making the decision to postpone services while others have opted to move forward with a small gathering of close family and friends.

It is Cobb's Funeral Home policy, which lines up with the restrictions of our governor, Gretchen Whitmer, that all gatherings are limited to 20 people with a distance of 6 feet.
