Delores Patricia (Gillespie) Humphrey was the eighth child born of the union of Allesia Magellan and Johnnie Ethel Gillespie on August 28, 1939, in Flint, Michigan.  In God's infinite wisdom he called her home on September 20, 2025.

Pat, a lifelong resident of Pontiac, Michigan, was a trailblazing leader in many capacities. She and her beloved husband, Lonnie Humphrey, Sr., shared an incredible marriage adventure spanning 64 years, serving as an inspiration for all.  Pat dedicated her life to educating and inspiring the youth of the Pontiac School District for over 40 years.

A graduate of Pontiac Central High School and Eastern Michigan University, she was known for her unwavering dedication and ability to make every student feel seen and valued.  Her classroom was a place of both nurturing support and gentle guidance, where she taught not just subjects, but life lessons.

Pat's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a lifelong member of Newman A.M.E. Church, where she served in many capacities, from a cherished choir member to a respected leader in church administration.  She also led a marriage ministry at her church. Her unwavering commitment to her faith was an inspiration to all who knew her.

She was a dedicated and involved leader for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and was a charter member of the Pontiac Alumni Chapter.  Her commitment to service extended to her community, where she served as a compassionate and dedicated board member for Pontiac General Hospital for over 20 years.  Pat's infectious spirit and desire to make the world a better place were apparent to everyone she met.  She had a remarkable ability to inspire others to be the best version of themselves, teaching valuable life lessons with love, compassion, and pure joy.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Lonnie Humphrey, Sr.; her three loving children, April, Lonnie Jr. (Marcia), and Keenan (Shirelle); her baby sister, Deborah, and a beloved student turned family member, Nakia.  She was a proud grandmother who kept in close contact with all of her grandchildren, Alanna, Arianna, Devin, James, Trey, Landon, Cherie, and Kayla; One great-grandchild, Keianah, her beloved sorority sisters; the Red Hatters; and a host of cherished family and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Allesia Magellan and Johnnie Ethel Gillespie, and her siblings, Doris, Annamarie, Gloria, Jackie (Johnnie Ethel), Allesia Jr., J.B., Mary Louise, and Ruth.

Celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Newman A.M.E Church 233 Bagley St. Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will begin at 10:00am and the service will promptly start at 11:00am.  Interment will be held immediately following the service, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
