Obituary

Dorothy Turner, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at home in Southfield, Michigan.  She was born on January 26, 1943, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to David and Mary Dowe . She was the youngest of twelve siblings.  Dorothy was also known as "Baby Ray".

She accepted Christ at young age, as a young adult, she relocated to Pontiac, Michigan. Her union with Thomas Turner was blessed with 6 beautiful children, Thomas Turner Jr.(Yvette), Richard Turner (Tracy), Rodney Turner, late Laura Ann Turner-Hooks (Wayne), Shawn Turner (Traycie), and the late Yolanda Turner.

She was a proud resident of Pontiac, Michigan.  She worked as a caregiver for several years in the Group Home Industry with her belated sister, Carolyn.  She loved shopping, music, spending time with her great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.  Dorothy was beyond a strong woman, she faced the unimaginable, and was never afraid to keep going. She knew that she must carry the type of courage that cannot be shaken, a faith strong enough for the darkness, strength strong enough for any task, and grace to meet life's challenges.  Her wisdom is something that will live on forever within her loved ones.

Dorothy was proceeded in death by her siblings, Tony, Roy, Ruth, Williemae, Gussie, Carolyn, Lewis, Clyde, JC, Bobby, and her children, Yolanda and Laura.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dorothy Turner will lie in repose on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 12:00PM-6:00PM at Cobbs Funeral Home, 151 Orchard Lake, Pontiac, Michigan, 48341.

Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 394 Howland Ave, Pontiac, Mi, 48341.  Family Hour is at 10:00AM.and Service starts promptly at 11:00AM.  Interment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
