Obituary

These words express the loving memory of Earlene Crisp, age 86, who passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024, at McLaren Hospital-Flint, Michigan.  She was born on March 27, 1938, in Collinsville, MS. to the late Michael and Rena McKenzie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard Devance Crisp and her son, Gregory Draine and brother, Excel McKenzie.

She demonstrated resilience: always early; kept her La'Boutique Beauty Salon tidy for 43 years; holding tight in her lap the children, grands and great grands until they just give up and fall asleep; staying active in church and on a bowling league; always ready to make & serve, or sell, Earlene's Potato Salad at churches, events, Huron and Hollywood Market grocery stores.

Earlene leaves behind her children; Charlene Drain, Addie Clark and Albert (Pam) Creer, three surviving siblings Zola Houston, Mary Ruth Barnett, and Johnnie McKenzie.  Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church 174 Branch St. Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will begin at 10:00am and the service will immediately start at 11:00am.  Internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, MI.
