Gregory Batchelor was born on August 23, 1962, to Walter and Dorothy Batchelor in Pontiac, Michigan.  He departed this life on November 6, 2023.  He was educated in the Pontiac School District where he played clarinet in the band.

Greg worked at Sears in the stock room during high school before being admitted to General Motors Institute (Kettering University) in 1980, in the Electrical Engineering program where he excelled and earned a place on the Dean's List.  (Something a school counselor told him he couldn't do. If you knew Greg, you know he had to prove them wrong).  Not only did he graduate from GMI but he went on to earn a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Michigan.  He also graduated from Illinois Executive Development Program at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.  Greg's career at General Motors spanned 43 years before his retirement in June of 2023.

In addition to his educational pursuits, Greg also became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity incorporated in 1984.

In 1982, Greg met Darliss Crutchfield and scared her very early in the relationship when he told her she would be his wife.  However, on August 3, 1985, his words were proven to be true as Greg and Darliss were married.  A year later, in September 1986, their only child, Brandon, was born.

Greg deeply valued his family and would ride a rocket to the moon and back to ensure their happiness and well-being.  With that said, his grandsons, Bentley and Nickolas, were his pride and joy.  He loved nothing more than spending time, teaching them life lessons, playing the clarinet with Bentley, buying "just because" gifts and generally spoiling them.

This loving selfless, generous, knowledgeable, helpful, gentle genius will be missed by many including;

His wife of 38 years, Darliss; son and daughter-in-love, Brandon (Jillian) Batchelor; grandsons; Bentley and Nikolas Batchelor; sister Marilyn Robinson; nephews Donte Taylor, David Taylor, Martel Taylor, Edward Lucas (LeTeisha) and Daryl Crutchfield Il, nieces; Nakia (Derek) Wynns, Chesa Richmond, Kayla Otis and Dianira Aguilar; Brother-in-law Daryl Crutchfield, Sr., Cousin Mark Batchelor; adopted brother James Esnault and second mother Betty Esnault.

Close friends Michael Crowder, Preston Tillman, Michael Kinloch, Patrick Davis and many others.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents; Walter Batchelor and Dorothy Batchelor, maternal grandparents; Carl and Ida Churchwell, paternal grandparents; Walter Sr. & Beulah Batchelor, sister Marshalynn Richmond and nephew Juwan Otis.

Mr. Batchelor will lie in repose on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan, from 12:00pm until 7:00pm.

Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Cobb's Funeral Home Chapel 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will begin at 11:30am and service will start at 12:00pm.  Internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery., Pontiac, Michigan.
