It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Gwendolyn Sue Guthery, age 73, on July 20, 2025.  A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Gwendolyn brought warmth, compassion, and strength to all who knew her.

Born in Pontiac, Michigan on October 8, 1951, Gwendolyn lived a life centered on family, faith, and service.  She had a giving spirit, a ready smile, and a deep love for life's simple joys, whether serving at her church, tending to her flowers/garden, and cooking.

She is survived by her daughter Andrea McClendon-Williams (James), sons James (Nina) McClendon Jr., Brandon (Denita) Guthery, Waymond Guthery Jr., grandchildren Daniel McClendon, Samuel McClendon, Iyonna Leonard, Randy Lewis Jr., Destiny Gatewood and Camille Guthery.  Great grandchildren Nylah Leonard and Amari (AJ) Lewis, sisters Janice (Fred) Gary and Shirley Glazier and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her husband Waymond (Pat) Guthery, Parents Herman and Marie Glazier, brothers George, Herman Jr. and Larry Glazier and great nephew/godson Jeremy Stovall.

Celebration of life will take place Monday, July 28th, 2025 at Oakland Church of Christ, 23333 10 Mile Rd., Southfield, Michigan  48033.  Family Hour at 10:30am and service:at 11am.
