In the mid 1940's she moved to Pontiac to live with an aunt.  Her childhood classmate inquired of her whereabouts returning from Military service.  Their correspondence resulted in them getting married.  She married Paraque Parker on August 25,1947 in Toledo, Ohio.  They were blessed with nine children, five boys married and four girls.  Much later in life, they adopted two young sons, making their family eleven.  Helen and Paraque committed their lives to Christ, after their first child.  They were saved and began their spiritual development under the leadership of Bishop Charles Johnson Sr., founding pastor of Johnson Memorial COGIC, Pontiac, MI.  After her husband was called to pastor many years later, she served faithfully with him, founder of The Church of God Pentecostal until his health failed him. He passed away in September 1998.  They were married 51 years.  Her eldest son, Elder Harold  P. Parker was installed as pastor in the early 90's and the church name was changed to Living Word Ministries.  Throughout her Christian service, she faithfully carried out Kingdom work: soul-winning, conducting prayer services, Bible studies, street evangelism, hospital visitation and so much more.  She was known for her anointed singing, church drama plays, and her gardening, signature  Fall canning and cooking.  Her seamstress skills were known in her children's schools and neighborhood.

Helen Parker of Pontiac, Michigan made her heavenly transition on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Helen was blessed with longevity, she was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings, her husband, her youngest daughter, Sandra eighth child, and her great-grandchild, Jemiyah Parker.  Helen leaves to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy: her youngest sister Margaret (Walter) Lipscomb, her eight children: Harold (Doristein), Larry (Donna) Perry (Deborah) Margaret (Artelous) Doris (Danny) Tyrone, Jennise, Elijah-Alex (Kim former daughter-in-law), Kevin, Isaiah; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ms. Parker will lie in repose on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road in Pontiac, Michigan, from 12:00pm until 5:00pm.  Family hour will be held from 3:00pm until 5:00pm.
