Mr. Herod Bailey (Tree Top) was born in Wadley, Alabama on September 2, 1922 to Mr. Collins and Clara Bailey. Mr. Bailey left Wadley, Alabama and moved to Pontiac, Michigan when he was 18. Mr. Bailey was hired at Pontiac General Motors in 1947 where he worked for 34 years until he retired. Mr. Bailey also worked at Marianne's department store for over 25 years where he also retired.
Mr. Bailey departed this life on August 7, 2018 at home with his family in Pontiac, Michigan. Mr. Bailey was a loving and kind family man. He joined Messiah Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac, Michigan in 1991.
Mr. Bailey leaves to cherish his memory Paul Rodgers, Jr., JoAnn Styles (Anthony), and Gregory Bailey (Kelah). He had fifteen grandchildren, fourty-one great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great grandchildren. Mr. Bailey personally raised three of his grandchildren; Sharron Bailey, Thirkiel Bailey and Cedric Curry. Mr. Bailey also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and other loved ones.
Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Collins and Clara Bailey, the mother of his first three children, Magnolia Bailey, and life partner of over 35 years, Myrtle Virginia Rodgers. Mr. Bailey was also preceded in death by his children: Lonnie Bailey, David Rodgers, Jacqueline Bailey, and Eugene and Irene Bailey.
Mr. Bailey loved and cared for his family deeply. He touched the lives of all his family and supported them in any way that he could
Mr. Bailey will lie in repose on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan, from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. Mr. Herod Bailey's celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church 15 Mark St., Pontiac, Michigan. The family will meet with friends at 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Mr. Bailey will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery of Pontiac, Michigan.
