Obituary

J. W. Fair, Jr., affectionately known as "Sonnie" was born on October 20, 1947 to the union of John Red and Ruby Lee Fair.  J.W. departed this life on January 12, 2020 at home.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John Red & Ruby Lee Fair, his wfe, Alease Lisa Fair, three sibling; James, Jearry and Ruby Nell Fair.

J.W., Jr., was born in Crystal Springs, Mississippi and later his family moved to Lake Providence, Louisiana.  He accepted Christ at a young age and was a devoted deacon at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac, Michigan.

At the age of 19, J.W., graduated from G. W. Griffin High School in Lake Providence, Louisiana.  He worked hard and purchased a one-way ticket to Pontiac, Michigan, just 30 days after graduation .  He came with three chicken sandwiches in a brown paper bag.

J.W. began employment at Pontiac Motors and was later drafted to the US Army.  Earning $88.00 per month, he sent $44.00 home to his parents each and every month.  He was honorably discharged and returned to work at Pontiac Motors where he later retired from.

J.W. "Sonnie" met and later married Alease "Lisa" Fortier in 1975,  and to this union was a son, Carl, and a daughter, Cresha.   J.W. was an avid gardener and he loved collecting cars.  Sonnie was also an active committee member of The Louisiana Round-UP.

To cherish his memory and celebrate his life he leaves behind his children; John C. Fair, LouCresha Fair both of Pontiac, Michigan., his siblings; Katherine Fair, Carrie (Larry Sr.) White, Ollie (Greg) Jefferson, George Fair, Auther (Carol) Fair all of Pontiac, Michigan., and Margaret Fair of Atlanta, Georgia., two granddaughters; Marqueonda McCain, Gabriella Fair and a host of other loving relatives and friends

He will lie in repose on Friday, January 17, 2019 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.   J.W. Fair, Jr.'s Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at Cobb's Funeral Home Chapel.  The family hour will start at 10:00 a.m.  Mr. Fair will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan.
