Obituary

In the early morning of Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Jack Humphrey shook off this old earthly tabernacle that God loaned him for 91 years one month after his birthday.

Jack was born on March 15,1935, in Brasfield Arkansas to the late Rev. Ophelia and Jack J. Humphrey, he was the second child of 13.  He accepted Christ at an early age and never forgot the love and teaching of Christ by participating in weekly bible studies.

In 1942, the Humphrey family moved to Michigan where Jack attended Pontiac Central High School and graduated in 1954.  After graduating he began working at General Motors – Truck and Bus Assembly Plant in Pontiac, which spans over 37 years.

Jack was very passionate about and enthusiastic for many sports; especially football, he also loved fishing when he was younger and playing cards with family and friends and at a late age loved bingo (Bingo king).

In 1955, he married Mary Humphrey, to this union they had five children. In 1979, he married Barbara J. Humphrey and two children from this union.

Jack was preceded in death, parents Jack and Ophelia Humphrey, wife Mary Humphrey, wife Barbara Humphrey, son Jeffery Humphrey, brothers David Humphrey, Paul Humphrey, Elbert Humphrey, and a special friend Georgia Jackson.

Jack was known for the undying love he had for family. He is cherished in memory by his daughters Sherry Humphrey, Vanessa Henderson, Joan Humphrey, Tina Humphrey, L' Tria Monicia (Lester) Humphrey and one son Robert (Cheryl) Hawkins. Brothers Lonnie Humphrey, Charles (Clarissa) Humphrey, Perry Humphrey, and Dale (Barbara) Humphrey. Sisters Dorothy Humphrey-Johnson, Oneida (Cleveland) Day, Rev. Dianne Beverly, Durline (Virgil) Tibbs and Deborah Green. Also, there are 49 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, 42 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, and a host of loving friends

Jack Humphrey will lie in repose on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan, from 12:00pm- 6:00pm.

Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Cobb's Funeral Home.  Family hour will begin at 10:00am and the service will promptly start at 11:00am.  Interment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan., immediately after the service.
