James Nathan-Lee Townsend was born on September 21, 1980, to James Townsend Sr., and Doretha Giles in his beloved city of Pontiac, Michigan.  James was the oldest of three sons.

James effectionately known as "Nate", attended Pontiac Schools.  He was known for his skills in the kitchen.  From Pontiac, Michigan to Russellville, Kentucky, he was the king of fast- food cooking.  However, let's not forget his passion for music.  Nate could be heard blasting R&B, Funk, and Rap music throughout the neighborhood.

Big Papa was was the father of three lovely children, Jordon Fowlkes, Jalera Daniels, and James Townsend III, whom he loved endlessly.

Nate found the love of his life, Amanda Mitchell in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Their love was radiant and shining bright for all to see.

On Friday, March 1, 2024, James "Nate" Townsend, was welcomed in heaven by many cherished loved ones that preceded him in death.  "Nate" leaves to cherish his memory father, James Townsend Sr,; Bonus mom Marilyn Townsend, of Pontiac, Michigan;  Mother Doretha Giles of Holly, Michigan; Children; Jordon Fowlkes of Lake Orion, Michigan, Jalera Daniels, of Russellville, Kentucky, James Townsend III of Bowling Green, Kentucky; siblings Jonathan Townsend and Jeremy Townsend of Pontiac, Michigan; loving grandmother Annie Gardner of Russellville, Kentucky, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life will be held at Cobb's Funeral Home Chapel 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will begin at 9:30am and the service will start at 10:30am.  Internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
