Janie Mae Craig was born on May 26, 1933 in Queen City, Texas to the late Ruby Ross and James Edward Hodge.  Janie was called home to be with the Lord on April 18, 2020, at The Villa of Green Lakes Estates Nursing facility in Orchard Lake, Michigan.

Janie was baptized and accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age in Texas.   After moving to Pontiac, Michigan in 1965, she joined Messiah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Roy C. Cummings.   For over 15 years, she served faithfully on the Senior Usher Board and supervised the Junior and Teenage Usher Board members.  Janie truly loved doing the work of the Lord and was kind-hearted.  Every year at Christmas she would choose a family and purchase gifts for them.  Later, Janie moved her membership to New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac, Michigan, where she continued to serve as an usher and member of the Mother's Board under the leadership  of her current pastor Rev. William Parker, Jr.  Janie loved and cared for her three sons dearly while yet finding time to be employed outside of the home.  She was employed at American Plastic and later as a Domestic Assistant and cared for the children of three local families.

Janie showed great love and concern for her sons education and participation in sports.  She would attend all their games and activities and always made her presence known at their events, if they didn't see her they definitely heard her.  Janie became a second Mom to her sons friends and other children, her love was shown throughout the community.  Janie was always ready to give advice and direction whether you asked for it or not.

Janie leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving family; Sons, Charlie (Zoenda) Hodge and Kenneth (Pat) Craig.  Grandchildren; Kaddra Powell, DeMarcus Hodge, Danielle Hodge, Ericka (Lonell) Davis, Kelly White and Kennard Craig.  Brother Joe (Mae Doris) Hodge.  Ten great-grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents Ruby Ross and James Edward Hodge and her son Harold Craig.

Graveside service will commence at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Queen City Cemetery in Queen City, Texas.
