Obituary

Mother Jennie Marie Gonzales was born on April 27th, 1939, in Pontiac Michigan to the late Mother Mildred Gamble and Jack Gamble.  Mother Gonzales made her transition on January 18, 2024.

She was the youngest of 13 children, and was a very energetic child, and as the youngest, she was very well taken care of by her older siblings.  As a child, she loved to play Teacher, she would devote her time pretending to be a teacher, teaching her pupils lessons, not knowing that her imagination would turn out to be her reality.  Jennie was called to teach the Word of God.

Mother Gonzales attended Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ under the late prolific leadership of Bishop C. J. Johnson.  There, Bishop Johnson and the old mothers of the church including her mother, Mother Mildred Gamble, taught her how to live holy, and boldly, go forth teaching the Word of God, without fear, without trembling, and without caring what people thought of her. They taught her how to fast and how to pray without ceasing. Under the tutelage of the late Bishop Johnson and the strong influence of the old church mothers, Mother Gonzales matured into a strong, bold woman of God ministering to all she met including those who provided services to her home such as the cable man or woman, the plumber, the AAA workers and so many more. No one was exempt from hearing about the Love of Jesus Christ.

Mother Gonzales also attended Deliverance COGIC and was greatly, spiritually influenced under the remarkable late, Elder Ginyard Senior, who, allowed Mother Gonzales to utilize her spiritual gifts in any way the Lord led her. Mother Gonzales and Deacon Gonzales truly loved Elder Ginyard and First Lady Ginyard and were truly blessed during their time at Deliverance COGIC;  a time both never forgot.
