Jessie Lee Jackson was born July 12th, 1947 in Rutherford, Alabama to the late Willie Jackson and Rosie Moore-Jackson.
As a young man Mr. Jackson relocated to Detroit, MI with his brothers Gene and Chuck. The three of them were quickly hired as auto workers. He was an avid car lover and mechanic and eventually retired with 41 years from the General Motors Lake Orion plant. In addition to working at GM along with his brother Eugene, together they opened Gene's Rib Shack. From University Blvd to Auburn Rd they served the city of Pontiac for over 30 years.
He was a faithful member of Anitoch Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the trustee board, sang in the mens choir and took great pride in caring for the church grounds. After retirement, Mr. Jackson started a lawn care service and could be seen around the city on his zero turn. After his morning walk he would go to Avon Doughnuts to hangout with his beloved Doughnut Shop Crew.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents Willie Jackson, Rosie Moore-Jackson and, his siblings Charlie Jackson, Willie (Margaret) Jackson, Eugene (Deborah) Jackson, Homer Jackson, Jimmy Upshaw and Daisy (Carl) Crocker
Mr. Jackson will be missed by his siblings: Rebecca (Howard) Hamilton, Cloria (James) Brunson, Arthur (Karen) Jackson, Rosie (Herbert) Brown, Tom (Claudine) Jackson, OC (Mona) Jackson, Sadie (Tony) Floyd, John (Ernestine) Jackson, Ulysse (Jessie) Upshaw, Special Uncle: Arthur (Liz) Jackson,
Mr. Jackson will be remembered by his daughter Jessie Bryant and son Stace (Ebony) Boyd, grandchildren Olivia Bryant, Charles Boyd, Madison Boyd, Julius Boyd Jason Boyd and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Jackson will lie in repose on Friday, July 5, 2024. Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 6, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church 318 Auburn Road, Pontiac, MI. Family hour will begin at 9:00am and the service will immediately start at 10:00am. Pastor Timothy Lawrence, officiating. Internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, MI.
