Jessie Mae Bell was born on August 18, 1936 to James and Angenora Henderson in Armorel, Arkansas where she attended Armorel High School.  She also attended Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where she accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member.

On June 4, 1953, Jessie married William Bell and they moved to Pontiac, Michigan, where their union was blessed with seven children, shortly after the move, she joined  Liberty Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor S.M. Edwards and Alvin Hawkins, later under the pastorate of Pastor Billy Allen and most recent under Dr. Rodney Tolbert.  Jessie was a faithful member for over 60 years!  She was on the Mission Department, served as the Treasurer and Financial Secretary.  She faithfully attended Sunday School class and was a strong supporter of all her pastors.

Jessie retired from North Oakland Medical Center (aka Pontiac General Hospital) after 26 faithful years of service.  She started in dietary, later held many different roles over the years and ended her career in the Endoscopy Clinic as a Medical Technician.

Jessie was well known for her love of cooking and baking and enjoyed sharing with friends and family, she also enjoyed bowling and was on several bowling leagues until the late 2019.  Bowling allowed her time to spend with her children and grandchildren which brought her great joy.  She was a dedicated loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and they enjoyed her Sunday dinners, which included watching sports, playing games, laughing and just having fun.   She loved family time and creating memories that will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Bell, Sr., her parents, James and Angenora Henderson, her siblings; Aretha Henderson, Leroy Henderson, Albert Henderson, Vera (Carl) Moss, Johnnie ( Jimmie) Robinson, Pinkie (James) Bonds, Dezzie Henderson and Lynn Henderson.

Jessie transition home on August 18, 2020, she leaves to mourn, her siblings; Cleotha Robinson, Pastor Harold (Leola) Henderson, Eddie B. (Louise) Henderson, Robert (Palestine) Henderson and Eddie Henderson, her children; Pastor William (Dedtra) Bell, Jr., Olivia J. Bell, Linda (Theodore Sr.) Frazier, Cheryl Winton, Ricky Winton, Darlene (Rick Sr.) Anthony, Marlene (Marte Sr.) Dennard, Pastor Randy (Theresa) Bell and Vernita Moss, Godchildren, Debra Gordon & Elaine Fuselier, grandchildren; Rashunda Winton, Theodore (Nicole) Frazier, Jr., Terrance Bell, Tara Bell, Terrell Frazier,  Martel (Aaron Sr.) Green, Joshua (Mariah) Dennard, Callie Anthony, Ricky Anthony, Jr., Willie Price Jr., Tina (John) Hill, Marte (Dorian) Dennard, Jr., God-children; Christina Eggleston & Dwight Crawford, great-grandchildren; Christina Frazier, Zariah Bell, Aaron Green, Jr., Jeremiah Green, London Bell, Grace Green, Amelia Dennard, Alaina Dennard, Tymiree Dennard, Taylor Hill, Teagan Hill, and Jayden Hill, special friends; Gloria Green, special niece; Serita Bell.  Also survived by a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Mrs. Jessie Mae Bell will lie in repose on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church 250 Fisher St., Pontiac, Michigan, family hour will start at 10:30 a.m.  The Internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan.The family is requesting that you view Mrs. Jessie Mae Bell at Cobb's Funeral Home on Monday as planned.

As a global concern about Coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to have a impact on our community, we are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of the families we serve and the community in general.  Some families are making the decision to postpone services while others have opted to move forward with a small gathering of close family and friends.

It is Cobb's Funeral Home policy, which lines up with the restrictions of our governor, Gretchen Whitmer, that all gatherings are limited to 20 people with a distance of 6 feet.
