Joan Juanita Chunn-Garry of Pontiac, Michigan, departed this life on December 5, 2024, she was born in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Perry Chunn and Vivian Jackson.  She was preceded in death by her son; Charles Cook, Flora Jackson, aunt; Myrtle Gardner and her sister; Mildred Norris.

At an early age Joan accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined St. John United Methodist Church, where she served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee.  She  received her education through the Pontiac School District and graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1965.

After working over 30 years and retiring from General Motors her dreams became realities. Her business tactics started from PBI Business Institute. She became a licensed cosmetologist and opened her beauty salon Chun-Kell Beauty and Barber.

In her later years, Joan continued her "Purpose" in the West Bloomfield School District as a teacher's aid for the Kids Klub program. She loved to joke, play music, dine-in at restaurants, and go to the casino.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Chelsea Cook, Kelli Davis, and Randi Richardson; grandchildren, Jasmyn Thomason, D'Juan Poe II, Charles Cook Jr., Corey Cook, Chaise Cook, Casi Cook, Dennis Brownlee, Jaiza James, and Denai Brownlee; great-grandchildren Kam'Ren Jacob, Cassius Thomason, and Amias Poe; brothers, Michael (Charlene) Chunn, Perry (Cecilia) Chunn, Kerry (Cheryl) Chunn, Howard Chunn, and David Chunn; sisters, Ella Hunter and Linda Walker; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at St. John United Methodist Church, Rev. Frederick B. Moore, Sr., officiating.  Family hour will begin at 10:00am and the service will immediately start at 11:00am.  Interment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
