Joe Lewis, Jr., was born March 8, 1940 to the late Joe Lewis, Sr., and Albertha Thompkins.  He was the second of three children that were born in Montgomery, Alabama.  Joe accepted Christ at an early age.

Joe left the dusty red roads of Montgomery, Alabama when he was 13 years old with his sister the late Josephine Jones, and moved to the City of Pontiac, Michigan, where continued his education in the Pontiac School System.  He was employed with Pontiac Motors where he worked in the foundry until he retired.  Joe later re-dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and went on a mission of saving souls for the Kingdom of God.  He later became a Pastor at The Way of Salvation Church in Seattle, Washington, where he served with his wife Pastor Edith Lewis.  After moving from Harrow, Ontario, Canada, his favorite scripture was John 3:16.  Joe loved his cars clean and shiny, just like him.  Joe was always dressed to the nines with impeccable taste.  His favorite car was his Cherry Red GTO.  Joe loved his family and was a man of quiet resolve.

Joe Lewis Jr., of Milford, Michigan departed this life on June 20, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his parents Joe Lewis, Sr., and Albertha Thompkins (Excell)., grandfather Pastor Vincent L. Lewis, grandmother Elsie Gray and sister Josephine Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Edith Lewis, seven children; Terrell (Shelia) Washington, Rodney Washington, Clifford (Vanessa) Lewis, Karen (Phillip) Lewis-Caneso, Kevin (Nika) Lewis, Richard Lewis and Joe Lewis, III, brother; Phillip Lewis, sisters; Edith Johnson and Joelette Lewis, grandchildren; Jamal (Rhonda), Dominique, Lawrence, Andre, Loretta, La Chanta, Shaneece, Neeka, Kevin, Summer, Anaiya, Amar'e, Cody, Antoine, DeAndre, Jeremiah and Isaac, great-grandchildren; Jaila, Maverick, Andre, Andrea, Aaron, Jayden and Haviland.  Also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 12 p.m. at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will start at 10:30 a.m.

As a global concern about Coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to have a impact on our community, we are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of the families we serve and the community in general.  Some families are making the decision to postpone services while others have opted to move forward with a small gathering of close family and friends.

It is Cobb's Funeral Home policy, which lines up with the restrictions of our governor, Gretchen Whitmer, that all gatherings are limited to 20 people with a distance of 6 feet.
