John Robert Hunter of Pontiac, Michigan, was born on May 26, 1940, in Opelika, Alabama.  He was born to Willie Lewis and Hattie Mae Hunter.  He departed this life on Friday, August 4, 2023.

Mr. Hunter confessed Christ at an early age and graduated from J.W. Darden High School in Opelika, Alabama, and he retired from Pontiac General Motors.  John was a barber, he loved to cook and make his famous cornbread.  In his most inspiring past times, he loved fishing and hunting and would captivate a room in his classic suits and hats.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Willie Lewis and Hattie Mae Hunter, his brother; Willie Robert Hunter and his sister; Mildred H. Trimble, his nephew; Herbert Earl Trimble and sister-in-law; MaeJean Hunter.

Memories of John's life and legacy will be cherished by his daughter; Pamela (Paul) Johnson, Sons; Sean Hunter, Terrance Hunter all of Pontiac, Michigan, Ricky Sistrunk of Birmingham, Alabama and Gregory Grady of Opelika, Alabama, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will begin at 10:30am and the service will start at 11:00am.
