Johnetta Samples of Port Huron, Michigan (Formerly of Pontiac, MI) departed this life on August 28, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her husband; Herbert Samples, parents; Mandel D. Ashford and Johnnie Mae (Woodley) Ashford, siblings; Otis Ashford, Bernadine Moore, Kenneth Ashford and Joyleen Ashford and her grandson; Jeffrey L. Jenkins.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her children; Jeffrey M. (Audrey) Jenkins, of Port Huron, MI., Stacy E. Jenkins, of Murfreesboro, TN., and Andrea Jenkins, of Waterford, MI., siblings; Douglas (Young) Ashford, of Killen, TX., John (Mary) Ashford, of Port Huron, MI., and Anita Ashford of Port Huron, MI, grandchildren; Marqueshia Lockett, Alexis Jenkins, Jamar Jenkins, Jeffrey Jenkins, Stacia Jenkins and Vontay Abrahams and four great-grandchildren.

Johnetta attended Port Huron Area Schools completing grade school and middle school, she graduated from Pontiac Central High school of Pontiac, Michigan.  She was a very active, dedicated and committed member of Newman AME Church, her employment included the Pontiac School District, Auburn Hills Schools and she retired from Grant Elementary School.  She received numerous awards and recognition from her community service and to the youth involvement.  She absolutely loved spending  time with her family, she loved the Lord and depended on him for ALL her needs.

Mrs. Samples will lie in repose on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Cobb's Funeral Home Chapel 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan, from 12:00pm until 6:00pm.

Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Newman A.M.E. Church 233 Bagley St. Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will begin at 10:30am and the service will start at 11:00am.  Interment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
