Joseph Stephen Winstanley of Auburn Hills, Michigan, departed this life on August 12, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Rose E. Winstanley (Bullard), Sidney J. Winstanley, Sr., his brother; Sidney J. Winstanley, Jr., and stepbrother; Robert A. Sutton.

Joseph is survived by his sisters; Susan (Rick) Songerath-Winstanley, Rose (John) Trefz-Winstanley, nephews and nieces; Rich (Angela) Wilcox, Joshua (Sandra) Wilcox, Hannah Rose Winstanley, Kathi Ice and Ryan Songerath.

Joe was fondly known as uncle Joe Joe to his great-nieces and nephews, including; Brittani, Olivia, John, Grace, Hope, Adam, Maya, Alexander, Emma Rose, April and Damian.  Joe had many friends, including his sister-in-law; Maggie Winstanley and best friend; Gary Osborne.

The best years of Joeys life were spent with our beloved family in Choppee, South Carolina, with our cousins; Josephine and Winston Williams, their beautiful children and their children's children.  Joe worked in many professions throughout his life and he will be remembered most for his culinary skills.  Some of our best memories will be the delicious meals that he skillfully prepared.  He also was a musician and played the flute proficiently, reading was another hobby that he enjoyed along with gardening and canning his own harvest, he was a devoted pet lover, and his dogs were considered his family.

Rest in peace our dear Joey, your love of family will live in all of our hearts forever, and we will miss you until we meet again "up top!"

There will not be a public service or visitation at this time.  Donations can be made to the animal shelter of your choice.
