With broken hearts, we report that Juanita Diane Sheppard Coleman departed from this life on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the age of 67. She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on December 5, 1950 to Charlie Marshall Sheppard, II and Susannah Nelson.
She attended Skyland Elementary, Kennedy Jr. High, and Atkins High School. She later furthered her education at Lawrence Technology Institute in Southfield, Michigan. She retired from Southern Bell, Hartland Insurance and Pontiac General Hospital, as a result of relocations with her family. Her husband's employer General Motors moved Juanita from Winston-Salem to Charlotte, North Carolina; then to Columbia, South Carolina, then Memphis, Tennessee; then Charlotte, North Carolina again; then Pontiac and Detroit, Michigan, over 17 years. Residing in Michigan since 1985, she has attended Trinity Missionary Baptist Church for 33 years, where she participated in the Women's Fellowship and Bible Study.
Juanita was preceded in death by a brother, William Derwin, and a sister, Audrey Cockerham in North Carolina, she is survived by her parents; Charles Sheppard, Sr. and Susannah Sheppard; her brothers; Charles (Patricia) Sheppard, Jr., and Timothy Sheppard; her sisters; Wanda Walker, Lillian (Gary ) Walker and Susan Sheppard; plus numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and a special cousin in Virginia, Andrew (Lisa) Wardlow. In Michigan, her memories will forever be treasured and cherished by her husband close to 50 years David Coleman, Sr., and their children of whom she was extremely proud; David Coleman, Jr., Steven (Tatyanna) Coleman, Davena Coleman and Andrew (Marquita) Coleman. She also adored her ten grandchildren; Simone, Steve Jr., Christopher, Cameron, Dallas, Andrew Jr., James, Jeremiah, Aiden and Malik. Her 44th Anniversary pride and joy Cadillac Escalade truck's license plates are " QTMC MOM" and her legacy is that she was a matriarch of QTMC, Inc. Charity and CENTERSTAGE Rental Hall, Recording Studio, and Homeless Shelter. She and her family have fed, clothes, transported, and sheltered hundreds of needy and homeless persons for 21 years.
Juanita Diane Sheppard Coleman will lie in repose on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan, 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. Family hour will start at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Mrs. Sheppard Coleman's Celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church 123 Wesson St., Pontiac, Michigan.
