Kenneth
Carr
Jun 1, 1957 — Dec 31, 2021
Kenneth Carr was born on June 1, 1957 in Pontiac, Michigan to Vernia Mae Carr and Leodis Carr.
Kenneth graduated from Pontiac Central High in 1975 and was later employed at Pontiac Motors until he resigned in 1979. After resigning, Kenneth moved to Florida to pursue his dream and his passion of someday becoming a Jockey.
Kenny's faith was always bigger than his stature, and he knew that a dream deferred was not a dream denied. He also knew that a dream was a goal in life, not just dreams experienced during sleep.
Kenny obtained his Jockey License in 1979 and the persona Kenny "G" the Celebrity was born. Although he started from the bottom cleaning horse manure from the horse stalls, he was not deterred.
Kenny "G" was a character and had no problem telling his friends and family how he got dropped off in Florida with no money, no plans and no connections. When everything was all said and done, he had obtained his Jockey License in every state that had a race track.
Kenny "G" eventually retired as a Jockey but continued with his love for horses; he exercised them before races, showed horses for auctions, breaking in Phillies and colts to prepare them to ride and whatever else he chose to as it pertained to horses, because let Kenny "G" tell it, he was "that guy".
Kenny "G" departed this life on December 31, 2021 at the age of 64. Kenny "G" was preceded in death by his father, Leodis Carr, Terrance Byas, brother-in-law, James (Smitty) Smith, sister-in-law Darlene Carr and Uncles: Alcus Jr. and J. W. Carr Ramsey, Willis Bishop.
Kenny "G" leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Alexandria Renee Carr; Mother Vernia Mae Carr; special Uncle, Melvin Smith; four step-children: daughter, Alesha (Scott) Kennedy, grandchildren: Isaiah Kennedy and Aniyah Kennedy; siblings: Vernia Marie Smith, Leardis Carr, Cynthia Carr-Lee and Pamela (Steve) Rieben, stepbrother: Melvin Hammer-Carr; step-sister, Tashina (Reginal) Green; special niece, Tanisha Byas and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
