Kirk Patrick Spurlin, Jr., age 59, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 25, 2020.   He was born on October 14, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the oldest child born to Kirk Spurlin, Sr., and Thelma Spurlin.  In 1962 the family moved from Indianapolis, Indiana to Pontiac, Michigan, the city where Kirk was raised.

As a youth, he loved to play basketball and roller skate. One of his favorite places to skate was a skating rink owned by his uncle, William Lee.  Kirk was loved by everyone and had no problems with making friends.  For those he knew, he could sit and talk for hours and hours.

Kirk graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in 1981,he worked at Walmart for over 15 years until his health issues forces him to retire.  He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

Kirk leaves to cherish his memories, a loving mother, Thelma Spurlin, one brother; Michael (Regina) Spurlin, two sisters; Sherri Hodges and Pamela Spurlin, two nephews, Brandon Spurlin and Tyrone Clark, three nieces, Ashley Thomas, Jasmine Spurlin and Toni Day, a loving uncle, William Lee; three loving aunts, Flossie Haynes, Joyce Lee, Judy Gleason-Payne.  His father Kirk Spurlin, Sr. preceded him in death.  Also survived by a host of cousins, great-nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

A Family Gathering will be held on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan.  Internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan.

As a global concern about Coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to have a impact on our community, we are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of the families we serve and the community in general.  Some families are making the decision to postpone services while others have opted to move forward with a small gathering of close family and friends.

It is Cobb's Funeral Home policy, which lines up with the restrictions of our governor, Gretchen Whitmer, that all gatherings are limited to 10 people with a distance of 6 feet.
