Leedora Lanehart Bester, age 79, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, in Pontiac, Michigan, at McLaren Oakland Hospital.  

Leedora was born on September 8, 1947, in Greenville, Mississippi.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Noah Lanehart Sr, and Leola Lanehart.

Leedora worked for many years in the nursing field and later worked in payroll. She eventually opened her own daycare, where she poured her passionate love and care into all of her babies. She had the pleasure of watching many of them grow from little tots into teenagers and graduates.

Leedora truly enjoyed her family and always made sure everyone was alright. She was a very, very good cook, and her home was the place to go for a good, home-cooked meal. She fed everybody, not just on Sundays or holidays, but every day of the week. 

Leedora is survived by her beloved husband, Jimmy Bester; her bonus children, Angela, Tiffany, Jimmy Jr., and James Bester; and her siblings, Maxine Abraham, Mae Ethel Rice, Vera Watkins, Sidney (Irene) Lanehart Sr., Dianne Johnson, and Beatrice Harris, all of Pontiac, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah Lanehart Sr. and Leola Lanehart; her bonus daughter, Kiwana Bester; bonus son-in-law, Leslie Bell; brother, Noah Lanehart Jr.; nieces, Carlin Denise Lanehart and Wytisha Stroman; nephews, Kendrick Lanehart, Eshun Howze, and Calvin Seay; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and her longtime besties.
