Lillie (Bulger) Anderson was born on January 20, 1940, in Abbeville, Alabama to Henry and Nancy Bulger. She departed this life on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Child number 13 of a blended family of 16 children, Lillie was educated in the Henry County School System. She graduated from Henry County Training School (HCTS) where she was successful in her academics, and enjoyed being part of Miss. HCTS’s Queens Court in 10th grade, and cheerleading in the 11th and 12th grades. Lillie also attended Alabama State College (Alabama State University), in Montgomery, Alabama where she obtained a B.S. in Education. 

Lillie and her family moved to Michigan in 1969. She was hired in the Pontiac School District, where she worked for 38 years. Lillie worked as a teacher with the Teen Mother’s Program. She was also a beloved librarian at Jefferson Junior High School, Madison Junior School, and Washington Middle Schools. While teaching in the Pontiac School District Lillie and her family joined and served many years at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. Later, Lillie and her family joined and served at Word of Faith International Christian Center (WOFICC) in Southfield.

Outside of church, Lillie joined the “World Renowned” Golden Opportunity Club, where she served as secretary for two terms. Here, Lillie met new friends, and reconnected with some old ones. Lillie enjoyed attending their many events. She traveled with the group as well. Lillie was also a member of the Pontiac Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She developed many endearing friends in the sisterhood.

Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Anderson, Sr., parents, Henry and Nancy Bulger, brothers, Charlie Harrison, Henry Coleman, R. C., Wilson, Orlando, Johnnie C., Allen, and Bobby; sisters, Ludella, Minnie Pearl, Henry Willie, Sarah, and Annie; daughter-in-law, Tanya Anderson. Followed in death by beloved sister, Bertha Weems.

She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Thomas E. Anderson, Jr., Farmington Hills, MI, Ronald Anderson, New York, NY, Deirdre Anderson, West Bloomfield, MI, Donald (Paris) Anderson, Delafield, WI; beloved grandchildren, Thomas Charles, IV, Donald Charles, Jr., Lillie Noah, and Stephen Joseph; sister, Mary Dumas, Montgomery, AL; Sisters-in-Law Margaret Anderson Rudder, Rochester Hills, MI, and Martha Joyce Stanford, Enterprise, AL; and many, many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
