Lucetry Bonds of Pontiac, MI passed on to glory on Tuesday March 3, 2026 at 11:45am at the age of 67, becoming an angel in heaven as she was on earth. Lucetry was born on December 1, 1958 in Covington, TN to the union of Willie B. Bonds and the late Julius Bonds. Her parents relocated their family to Pontiac, Michigan when she was very young. Lucetry, the middle child of seven children, was preceded in death by her brother Carl Bonds, paternal grandfather JB Bonds, maternal grandfather Roosevelt Chaney, paternal grandmother Joella Bonds, maternal grandmother Mattie Chaney, father Julius Bonds, and nephews, Terry, Donald, & Mark Tate.
Lucetry graduated from Pontiac Central High School on June 6, 1976. While a student at Pontiac Central, she participated on the basketball and track teams, student council, Black Awareness club, Varsity club, and the pep club. Lucetry then went on to attend Central Michigan University (CMU), where she earned a Bachelor degree in both Business Education & Physical Education and a Master of Science degree in Administration (MBA), with a concentration in General Administration. Lucetry spent some time working as a substitute teacher and referee for basketball games prior to accepting a position with Consumers Power Company (now Consumers Energy) in 1983. She remained with Consumers Energy until her retirement in 2021 after over 40 years of dedicated service.
At a very young age, Lucetry was baptized at Liberty Baptist Church in Pontiac, where she was a member throughout her childhood under the Pastoral leadership of the late Rev. Billy Allen. While a member at Liberty Baptist Church, she joined the choir and attended several church conventions across the state. Lucetry later joined Welcome Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac, where she was a faithful member for over 40 years under the Pastoral leadership of the Rev Douglas P. Jones & the former Pastor John K. Pinckney. Throughout her life, Lucetry remained steadfast in her faith, loving the Lord with all her heart and sharing that love through song, service, and her angelic smile.
