Deacon Malachi Fullwood, age 85, entered peacefully into the arms of the Lord after a life marked by faith, service, courage, and unwavering devotion to God and family.  Born January 29, 1941, in Brunswick County, North Carolina.  Malachi was the fifth of seven children born to Rev. Manning and Claudia Fullwood, both devout Christians who raised their children on the foundation of faith, hard work, and love.

Growing up on the family farm, Malachi learned early the value of responsibility and the strength of family. At the age of 12, he accepted Christ — a decision that shaped every chapter of his life. God confirmed His presence in Malachi’s life through a powerful childhood vision: three angels ascending inside the church, each one’s wings covering the next. Malachi carried that vision throughout his life, knowing it represented the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the divine protection that kept him through “sane and unsane danger.”

Malachi graduated from high school and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army.  Stationed in Germany for three years, he often testified that God kept him safe.  During one unforgettable moment, a German man urgently warned him to exit a train that was headed toward Russia, a moment Malachi always knew was divine intervention.  He returned home safely, earning the rank of Sergeant in only 18 months, an exceptional accomplishment.

After returning to the United States, Malachi spent seven months in New York before receiving a telegram from General Motors, inviting him to report to the employment office immediately.  That message marked the beginning of a remarkable 38‑year career, rising from labor worker to Supervisor of Research and Development Cutting Tools, a testament to his work ethic, intelligence, and leadership.

Malachi was blessed with an extraordinary wife, Katherine Ware, who became a loving and devoted stepmother to his sons. Together, they built a blended family filled with love, resilience, and God’s grace.  He cherished his sons Andre and Kevin Fullwood, describing them as his love, peace, and hope, a relationship only God could have orchestrated.

Though he never had a biological daughter, God gifted him one through his step‑daughter Kay Ware (deceased), who gave birth to twins.  After losing little Romel at two years old, Malachi’s heart bonded deeply with Melanie, whom he described as one of the most respectful, godly women he could ever ask for.

He adored his grandchildren, Makeia Fullwood, Shontai Smith, Andre Fullwood, Jr., Brandon Fullwood, January Armstrong, Thomas Ware, Jr., and James Brown, each one a source of joy and pride. His extended family, including sisters Pearl Gregory and Yulene Fullwood, along with a host of great‑grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, continued to surround him with love.

Malachi’s life was a tapestry of faithfulness: Faithful to God. Faithful to family. Faithful to service.  Faithful to the calling placed on his life.
