Marvin Taylor of Pontiac, Michigan born on October 3, 1947, to Anjaline Taylor and Fred Taylor, departed this life on July 19, 2024 at St. Andrews Bay Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Panama City, Florida.
He was united in marriage to Marcella Taylor for 49 years. Out of this union came, Charmayne (Harry Jr.) Griffin and Marcia Taylor. Beloved father of Marvin (Lakeisha) Taylor Jr., Deshun (Chris) Herring.
Marvin was employed at General Motors Corporation from 1968 until he retired in 2009 as a test driver. He loved music and was an avid fisherman spending many nights at the lake, he was always the tickle monster to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved to attend auto shows and look at old cars. He smiled a lot and shared many stories with all, his light and love will be missed by all.
He was proceeded in death by his beloved parents, Anjaline Taylor and Fred Taylor of Pontiac, Michigan. He was also proceeded by his siblings, Robert Taylor, Elaine Eason, David Johnson-Chapman, Diane Humes and his brother-in-law Larry Rodges.
He was the grandfather of Quintrall Lee Jr., Olivia Washington, Khristal Wren, Harry Griffin III, Kyndall Griffin, Alaina Griffin, Xavier Griffin, Amaya Taylor, Makayla Taylor, Donald Foster and Quaniqua Taylor, great grandfather of 2 great grandsons Qunitrall Lee III and Zaelyn Illemszky. He also leaves to cherish in his memory his siblings Frances (Arthur) Fowlkes, Loretta Taylor, Frederick Taylor, Veronica Taylor. Brother-in-Law of Bobby (Juanita) Mason, Roger Wardlaw, Francine (Lee) Jones, Orman (Suzette) Rodges, Mark (Angie) Rodges and Teresa Rodges. He also leaves to cherish 14 nieces and nephews with 2 special nephews in Marcus (Tushana) Jones, Maurice Jones. A special bond with his cousin Stevie Corr and friends Pedro Witherspoon and Fontaine White, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Mr. Taylor will lie in repose on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Ochard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan, from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church 311 Prospect St. Pontiac, Michigan. Pastor Derrick McDonald, officiating, family hour will begin at 10:30am and the service will immediately start at 11:00am. Internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
