Mary Ellen Butler was born on October 3, 1944 in Covington, Tennessee to Shirley Mae Granberry.   She transition from this life on January 7, 2020.   Her mother, Shirley Mae.Granberry and her brother, Larry Brown,  preceded her in death.

Mary attended Covington schools, graduating from Fraser High School in 1963.  Mary met and married,  Joe F. Butler, Sr., from this union six children were born.

A long time resident of Pontiac, Michigan. Mary loved caring for people.   It was that love for people that lead her to work in the health care industry.

Mary attended New Adult Life Fellowship in Arlington, Texas.   Her favorite interests were scrapbooking, journaling,  shopping, exotic foods and her family.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory her six children, Joe Butler, Michael Butler, Angela Butler, Kendra Butler, Denise Butler, and Fakhir Butler;  her siblings, Charles (Connie) Granberry, Robert Brown, Harold (Vicki) Brown; Connie Joyner, Dolly (Rick) Taylor and Allie Clark; a special uncle, Sanford Granberry, Sr., 18 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other close friends and loved ones.

She will lie in repose on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.    Mary Ellen Butler's Celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church 318 Auburn Ave., Pontiac, Michigan.  Rev. Timothy Lawrence, officiating, family hour will start at 10:30 a.m. and she will be laid to rest at Perry Mt Park Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan .
