Mittie Mae Arberry was born in Montgomery, Alabama on October 20, 1934 to the proud parents, Teresa and Willie L. Brown, who proceeded her in death.  On January 8, 2021 Mittie peacefully joined our Creator after a brief illness from a automotive accident.

Mittie was a resident of Pontiac, Michigan and was employed by General Motors from June 1976 until  retirement in January of 2000 from the Operating Services Department in Drayton Plains, Michigan.  She married Marvin Arbery in June 1970, he preceded her in death in 1985.

Mittie was a well respected woman in her community.  She accepted Christ at an early age and was a long standing member of New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a Mother in the Church and many others activities.  Mittie took pride in having one of his most immaculate homes in her neighborhood and was a very fashionable person, she enjoyed shopping, spending time with her sisters, playing bingo, fishing and dancing.

Mittie was a devoted and loving mother to John E. Chaney, Jr., in Pontiac, Michigan and Joyce M. Chaney in Bloomfield, New Jersey, besides her children, Mittie was effectionately known as "Granny" to her grandsons, Romell Chaney and Isaac Chaney and five great-grandchildren.

She also leaves to cherish her memory four sisters; Lucy Simpson (Jessie-deceased), Susie Taylor (Johnny-deceased), Mary Noel and Christine Benton (Michael-deceased).  Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives, special friends; Gaynell Guy, Betty Cunningham, JoAnn Ramsey, Johnnie Gray, Willie Mae London and Ella Aldridge.  Mittie touched so many lives during her time here, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services for Ms. Arberry will be held on Monday,  February 1, 2021 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan at 11 a.m.   Family hour will start at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery in Pontiac, Michigan.

As a global concern about Coronavirus (COVID-19) begins  to  have a impact on our community, we are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of the families we serve and the community in general.  Some families are making the decision to postpone services while others have opted to move forward with a small gathering of close family and friends.

It is Cobb's Funeral Home policy, which lines up with the restrictions of our governor, Gretchen Whitmer, that all gatherings are limited to 20 people with a distance of 6 feet.
