It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Norris Raymond Jackson, who departed this life on May 24, 2025, at his home in Pontiac, Michigan.

Born to Marvin and Flora Jackson on July 31, 1936, Norris grew up in Pontiac, Michigan,  surrounded by a loving family and six siblings; Paul, Juanita, Norma Jean, Marvin, Jr., Roger, and Vista.  He attended Pontiac Central High School, where excelled in track and field, competing in the 450-yard sprint.

Norris bravely served the U.S. Army's distinguished 101st Airborne Division, The Screaming Eagles, making hundreds of parachute jumps during his service.  Stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he became proficient in Spanish.

After his military service, Norris pursued higher education, earning an associate's degree from Detroit Barber College.  He had learned the art of barbering from his father, Marvin Jackson, Sr., at the age old 9.

Norris's diverse career spanned multiple roles, including animal welfare officer, supervisor at General Motors Truck and Bus, and entrepreneur, owning his own barber shop on Crystal Lake.  An avid outdoorsman, Norris excelled in fishing & cooking.  His notable achievement, harvesting a 475lb black bear in Ontario with "One Shot-One Kill", the largest of three bears taken during his 60-year hunting career.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Marvin Sr., and Flora Jackson; sisters Norma Jean, Boothe, Vista Scott, and Juanita Chunn; brothers Paul Churchwell and Marvin Jackson, Jr., and son Keith Jackson.

Norris leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity, cherished by his loving brother Roger Jackson (Pontiac, Mi), three loving daughters, Marcia Renee Jackson (Atlanta, GA), Cassandra Noreen (Joseph) Farley (Van Buren, MI), Pamela Anne (Kevin) Coleman (Richmond, TX); many family members including cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends and more.

A Celebration of Norris's life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at St. John United Methodist Church 620 University Dr. Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will begin at 10:00am and the service will immediately start at 11:00am.  Interment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery., Pontiac, Michigan.
