Raymond Lowe was born in Bainbridge, Georgia to the late William and Plentis Lowe on September 2, 1927.  He was raised and nurtured in a Christian home by Christian parents.  Early in his life, he was strongly instructed to have a personal relationship with the Lord.  Raymond Lowe would accept Christ at an early age and be baptized at the Adam Chapel Mississippi Baptist Church in Bainbridge, Georgia.

Raymond Lowe met Annie Kate Jackson in Bainbridge, Georgia and married her on June 26, 1941; they would then migrate to Chicago, Illinois in search of a better life in the "North" .  Raymond Lowe was employed by Campbell's Soup Company a consummate hard worker, he pursued additional training and became a Skilled Trade worker for General Motors. Raymond was employed for 38 years and one of the things that made him the proudest as he said many times that "I had a good job". Remaining connected to his Christian roots, Raymond Lowe, throughout his adult life, would enjoy a lifelong walk with the Lord and serve as an active and dedicated member of the Deacon Board of the Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for over half a century.

Raymond had a strong walk with the Lord and he loved and trusted people.  He served the Church and its membership with deep empathy and understanding; he had unwavering faith.  He was a dutiful servant and invested in the community in which he lived; he believed in the inherent ability of people to gain redemption.  Deacon Lowe was charitable to many and all it took was an ask.  He was truly a cheerful giver and many were blessed because of it.

On December 23, 2020, Raymond Lowe transitioned from Church Servant to Church Triumphant.  His kindness and dedicated service to all who knows him will long be remembered.  He leaves to mourn his son Daviv Shakur (nigh. Linwood Lowe) and was preceded in death by his daughters, Barbara Elaine and Annie Doris Booth.   He also leaves to mourn his loving granddaughter  Kacy the grandchild that aptly referred to him as "MY GRANDDADDY" and he was.  A great granddaughter, Blake; a source of tremendous pride in his life.  Devoted friend caretaker, Virginia Davidson, who he came to consider family.  The surviving sibling of three brothers and two sisters; he was preceded in death by brothers Simon, Moses, Will and his sisters, Prudence and Buella.   Raymond was blessed with four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of sorrowing family members, friends and extended family who will remember him by leading with kindness and living with purpose.

Funeral services for Mr. Lowe will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 12 p.m. at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will start at 11 a.m. prior to the service.

It is Cobb's Funeral Home policy, which lines up with the restrictions of our governor, Gretchen Whitmer, that all gatherings are limited to 20 people with a distance of 6 feet.
