Robert Axford Sutton, Jr., of Auburn Hills, Michigan departed this life on January 4, 2021.  He was under the care of Hospice at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Rick & Susan Songerath.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert Axford Sutton, his mother, Josephine (Girdley) Sutton-Winstanley, his stepfather Sidney Winstanley and his brother, Sidney Winstanley, Jr.

Robert retired in 2010 from the United States Postal Services after 37 years of service.

Robert is survived by his maternal aunt, Jeanne (Girdley) Kilgore, uncle, Sonny (Joye) Girdley, along with several cousins and fondly known as Bobby to his siblings;  Susan (Rick) Songerath, Joseph Winstanley, Rose (John) Trefz, niece; Hannah Rose Winstanley, nephews;  Richard (Angela) Wilcox and Joshua (Sandra) Wilcox, several great nieces and nephews; John, Grace, Hope, Adam, Maya, Alexander, Emma Rose, April and Damian.  Robert also had some very special long-time friends,; Marsha (John) Young and many others.

Robert was a profound lover of music and there is no genre of music that he didn't like.  He was very knowledgeable about several of his favorite artists.  He spent a lot of effort to find the most perfect precise way to listen to the music that he loved, he would often say that listening to music was his "happy place."

Rest in peace our dear Bobby!  We will always Remember you as our cool brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend that looked a little like Paul McCartney with a unique sense of humor that encouraged our love and the joyful gifts of music.

As a global concern about Coronavirus (COVID-19) begins  to  have a impact on our community, we are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of the families we serve and the community in general.  Some families are making the decision to postpone services while others have opted to move forward with a small gathering of close family and friends.

It is Cobb's Funeral Home policy, which lines up with the restrictions of our governor, Gretchen Whitmer, that all gatherings are limited to 20 people with a distance of 6 feet.
