Rosa Lena Howard-Robinson of Pontiac, Michigan departed this life on March 8, 2019. She was born on March 21, 1931 in Montgomery, Alabama to Robert and Rosa Chisholm. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Walter Eugene Robinson. Rosa made her transition on March 8, 2019, at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, as the Lord called her home. Family and friends gather today to reflect the significance of a life well lived.
Rosa accepted Christ at an early age and attended Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama until she relocated to Pontiac, Michigan. She continued her work with the Lord, serving on the Outreach Ministry at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac, Michigan. She was also a faithful member of Lake Street Church of God, New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and attended St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church until her health no longer permitted.
Rosa attended Montgomery, Alabama public schools, and often told stories of her riding the bus with Rosa Parks during the 40's. She was employed at Braeburn Nursing Home (currently Woodward Hills, Bloomfield Hills Michigan. )
Rosa was united in holy matrimony to George E. Howard, Sr., in 1948. To this union, there were nine children. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory: George (Marie ) Howard Jr., Harolyn Elaine (Frank ) Burnett, Calvin (Delvern) Howard, Gary Howard, Teresa Rodges, Diane Howard and Sadie (Jerry ) Burnett. She will be dearly missed by her sisterJanice Keys of Los Angeles, California, great aunt Sadie Mae Abram of Lake Orion, Michigan., and the staff who cared for her at Lourdes Nursing Home and Regency Nursing & Rehab Center in Waterford, Michigan. Treasuring her memory are three daughters-in-law, Velma Howard, Jennifer Howard and Jackie Lane, a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Rosa was preceded in death by her daughter Sandra Morgan and son Raymond Howard, sons-in-law Ricky Morgan, Sr., and Larry Rodges.
Rosa 's legacy will continue as she engraved morals, values and life's lessons in the hearts of everyone she touched.
She will lie in repose on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. Mrs. Rosa Lena Howard-Robinson's Home going celebration will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church 69 S. Astor., Pontiac, Michigan. The family will meet with friends at 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service, she will be laid to rest at Perry Mt Park Cemetery of Pontiac, Michigan.
