In 1955 he went to Louisiana to get the love of his life Ruby L. Dunbar and they were united in marriage on January 8, 1956 and been married for 62 years.  He became a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Pontiac, Michigan on 0ctober 10, 1981 and baptized by Rev. Edward L. McCree, Sr., which he was a member of the male choir and mass choir.   He was also a member of the renowned Golden Opportunity Club. He loved playing the guitar and teaching his grandchildren how to play.

He will sadly be missed by his 7 children, 4  daughters, Carolyn (Huey) Winton, Shelia Gonzales, Vanessa (Alphea) Rickman and Evelyn (Edmond) McConney, 3 sons, Nathan (Cinzia) Gonzales, Russell Gonzales, Jr., and Cedric (Tridae) Gonzales.  15 Grandchildren, Chimere, Eugene (Nashieka), Corey, Evian, Allante, Amanda, Ciera, Jasmine, Emelle, Simone, Elandra, Taylour, Alphea Ii, Jonathan and Manuel.   Nine Great Grandchildren,  Jayden, Jordan, Simanee, Aliyah, Alijah, Amelia, Amari, Chaz and Aubrey.  3 sisters, Creotha Taylor of Baton Rouge, LA, Bennie R. Augustine of Marksville, LA., Sandra Pierite of  Pontiac, Michigan, 1 brother, Nelson Gonzales.  Sister in laws Jennie Gonzales, Genevia Gonzales, Mary Wilkerson and Martha Skinner.  Brother in law, Louis Pierite.  2 God children James Robinson and Courtney Pierite.

He was preceded in death by his 4 brother's Talton Gonzales, James Gonzales, Ellis Gonzales and Odeal Gonzales and daughter in law Carla Gonzales.

Russell Gonzales will lie in repose on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Mr. Gonzales Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11a.m at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church 512 Pearsall St., Pontiac, Michigan, the family will meet with friends at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.  Mr. Gonzales will be laid to rest at Perry Mt Park Cemetery of Pontiac, Michigan.
