Obituary

If you lived on the Southside of Pontiac during the last four decades, you knew Sandy Hopkins the III, also lovingly known as "Birmingham."

Sandy was brought into being on September 5th, 1949 in Pontiac, Michigan to parents Sandy and Beatrice Hopkins and made his transition on July 5, 2024.

Mr. Hopkins graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1968 and during this time, he discovered his passion for taking care of others. This explains why he held several positions in the healthcare industry throughout his adult life.  Birmingham loved the Lord and was baptized at Victory Apostolic Church located in Pontiac, Michigan.

Birmingham leaves several to carry on his legacy of love: two sisters Sadie (Edward) Biffle, Letha (Cleveland) Hopkins-Powell;  brother Winston (Joanie) Hopkins; nieces Kathie Carruth, Kia Johnson, Aniya Powell; nephews Andre Hopkins, Paul Hopkins Jr, Anoah Powell; great nephews Antwon Biffle (Karess, Simoan, Justice, Kynsley), Andre Hopkins Jr, Andrew Hopkins, Cartel & Randal Palacios.  Let us not forget a host of cousins and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his loving parents (Sandy and Beatrice Hopkins), his sister Louella Palacios (Breck), his niece Demetria Biffle, and special cousin Rose Pembroke.

Birmingham will lie in repose on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan, from 3:00pm- 8:00pm.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Cobb's Funeral Home Chapel 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will begin at 10:30am and the service will immediately start at 11:00am, Bishop Michael T.
