Obituary

Selma Marie Thompson  was born on September 9, 1945 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the union of Arthur and Reeder Mae Henry.  Selma moved to Pontiac, Michigan shortly after her arrival.  She accepted Christ at an early age at Christ Temple Apostolic Church in Pontiac, Michigan where she first fellowship and worshipped until her passing on December 23, 2019.

She was united in marriage to John L. Thompson, Sr., who proceeded her in death.  To this union three children were born, John L. Thompson, Jr., of Lexington, Kentucky, Katrina E. Thompson and Eric (Michelle) Thompson of Pontiac, Michigan.

Selma graduated from Pontiac Adult Education and worked for Pontiac General Motors for 28 years, after retiring she traveled and had many hobbies that included her entrepreneurial spirit such as selling or making crochet, nucklebuckles, snow cones, upholstery and ceramics.  Selma loved people , she was a great mother and friend and she loved her family very deeply.

Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Henry, Sr. and Reeder Mae Henry Russell, a special aunt Selma (Craft) Causey, her loving husband, John L. Thompson, Sr., her siblings, Arthur Henry, Jr., Billy Joe Henry, Kirby Henry, her sisters, Thelma "Chocolate" Smith and Wanda Strickland.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a caring loving daughter, Katrina E. Thompson, two loving sons, John L. Thompson, Jr., and Eric Thompson,  two brothers, Preston Henry and Fays Henry all of  Pontiac, Michigan., also thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one special aunt Neelma Pritchet of Franklinton, Louisiana.  Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other loving relatives and friends whom Selma loved so very deeply.

Ms. Thompson will lie in repose on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.    Selma Marie Thompson's Celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 12 p.m. at Cobb's Funeral Home Chapel, the family hour will start at 11 a.m. and she will be laid to rest at Perry Mt Park Cemetery.
