Shirley (Hatchett) Scruggs of Pontiac, Michigan, made her transition on November 22, 2023.

Shirley was a pillar in the community, who loved helping people.   She enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and traveling.  She was a nurse for many years and she retired from General Motors as a supervisor.  She was an active deaconess at her lifelong church Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; John and Cleopatra Hatchett, one sister; Helen (Hatchett) Mitchell, three brothers; John, Melvin (Bubby) and Howard Hatchett, and two children; Florence and Andre Stanford.

She leaves to cherish her memories; her daughter, Carolyn Stanford and son, Melvin Stanford, two grandchildren; Florence Chambliss (Reginald) and Andre Howard, four great-grandchildren; JaMia and John McCulland, Kayla Howard, Mason Anderson, one great-great-granddaughter; Ka'Lena Sigmon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church 123 Wesson St., Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will begin at 10:00am and the service will start at 11:00am. Rev. Dr. John Tolbert, officiating.  Internment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
