Obituary

Pastor Wardell Milton of Pontiac, Michigan departed this life on September 7, 2019.   Pastor Wardell was born June 2, 1953 in Greenfield, Mississippi to George and Geneaver Milton.   His Christian foundation was instilled in him by his parents at an early age and he began his ministerial journey.

Pastor Milton attended Jackson State University in Greenville, Mississippi and the ventured to Pontiac, Michigan where he became a loyal employee of General Motors for thirty years.   He attended Jordan College in Detroit, Michigan, majoring in Pastoral Care under the late Dr. S.J. Williams.   He attended William Tyndale College of Farmington Hills, Michigan where he majored in Biblical Studies with an emphasis on Church Administration.

In his early years, he attended Welcome Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John K. Pinckney.  He served as an ordained deacon for five years.  Shortly thereafter, he preached his first sermon at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under the late Senior Pastor Jacob Washington, Sr., and the service of the late Pastor Lenworth R. Miner, Jr. of New Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, he served as an Associate Minister.   Summoned by God, he served as an Intrim Pastor at Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church.  On January 25, 2009, Pastor Milton was accepted and installed as the Pastor of United Missionary Baptist Church.

Pastor Milton's love for the Lord has been enhanced by his love for family.  These passions have fired his evangelistic calling and have molded him into the charismatic man of God that he became.

Pastor Milton leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 27 years, JoAnn; two daughters, Felicia S. (Richard) Thomas and Deneen L. (Damon) Robinson; one son, Antroy K. (Katrina) Findley; two sisters, Jolane Ross, and Gennie (Robert) Hammond; two brothers, Melvin L. (Cornelia) Milton and Alfred (Stella) Milton; two sisters in love, Sondra T. Anderson and Kim Taylor; two brothers in love, George Scott and Kamal Muhsin; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other close family and friends and the entire United Missionary Church Family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Geneaver Milton; sister, Lillie M. Scott; brother, Charles Pat Milton; brother in love, Les Anderson; sister in love; Mary L. Taylor and devoted in love, Charlie J. & Marian V. Taylor.

Pastor Wardell Milton's Home going service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Pontiac, Michigan.  The family will meet with friends at the Church at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.   Pastor Milton will be laid to rest at Perry Mt Park Cemetery of Pontiac, Michigan. (No public visitation)
