Mother Willia Mae Wright of Pontiac, Michigan, made her transition on November 22, 2023. She was the first born child of three to the late Rosalie Milton-Redmond and James Henry (Bubba) Redmond on July 22, 1938, of Pontiac, MI. In 1958 she married the love of her life Willie L. Wright of Heartsville, TN, during their 51 years of marriage, came three beautiful daughters; Terri, Shirley and Diane.
She accepted Christ at an early age and later joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Pontiac, MI, on December 2, 1990, under the leadership of Pastor Lorenzo R. Robertson. She was an active member of the Office Ministry as an Administrator Assistant, The Mothers Board, New Membership Teacher and many other Ministries of the Church.
Mother Wright attended Pontiac Schools and graduated from Pontiac Senior High. She later continued her education and work career, she attended Oakland University and Oakland Community Colleges, she obtained her Associate Degree in Mental Health/Social Work. Her career started with Pontiac School District in various positions, she retired from Franklin Elementary as title 1 Assistant Teacher Administrator, she was active with the Golden Opportunity Senior Citizens Club and later became President and she was an avid seamstress, she made all her children clothing.
Mother Wright leaves in God's hands her three daughters; Terry Lynn (Craig) Covington of Troy, MI., Shirley Ann Wright of Pontiac, MI., and Diane Kaye (Jon) Peters of Englewood, FI., grandchildren; David Hill and Anthony Wright-Gracey, both of Pontiac, MI., great-grandson; Jace Hill, siblings; Kevin Redmond and Sherri Redmond of TN., special cousin; John Collins, special friend Mattie Petty, and a host of other loving family and friends.
Mother Wright will join her husband, parents, grandparents and sisters; Rosalie Benton and Julia Milton in heaven.
Mother Wright will lie in repose on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, MI. From 12:00pm until 6:00pm.
Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church 512 Pearsall Ave., Pontiac, MI. Family hour will begin at 10:30am and the service will start at 11:00am. Rev. Terrance Gowdy, Host Pastor and Pastor Lorenzo R. Robertson officiating. Internment will be held at Perry Mount Park Cemetery., Pontiac, MI.
