Mr. Willie E. Brent was born to the union of the late Samuel and Lorene Brent on May 25, 1937 in Jayess Mississippi. The lord called Willie home on September 26, 2018.
Willie grew up on the family farm in Jayess, Mississippi working alongside his father. Willie was raised in the church and accepted Christ at an early age while attending Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Jayess. He attended Hope Vocational High School and was mechanically inclined. Willie did most of his own auto repairs and maintenance, often assisting others.
In 1955, Willie met and married Annie Pearl Godbolt in Mississippi. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Pontiac, Michigan. Willie worked at Lytell & Colgrove Concrete for a number of years before joining General Motors Truck and Bus division in 1966. He worked for GM for over 30 years before retiring. After moving to Pontiac he joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Willie loved bowling, fishing and playing cards with family and friends. He was an exceptional bowler winning many tournaments, recording numerous 700+ series and bowling around the country in the National Bowling Association (black bowlers). He was a member of the American Bowling Congress, which later became the United States Bowling Congress (USBC).
He is survived by his children; Annette Mosley of Riverdale, MD, Ricky and Shawn Brent of Pontiac, MI; Shelia (Grant) Mason of Grand Blanc, MI; and Reginald (Tyffanie) Daniel of Charlotte, NC. Grandchildren; Akosua (Kwame) Radford of MD, Randy (Angie) Lawson of AL, Dameka (Tyrone) Bradley of FL, Grant Mason, Jr. Of DC, Amanda Mason, Shawn Brent, Jr., Dominique Brown and Michael Wilson of MI, Reginald II, Amari and Kobe of NC. He was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He also leaves to cherish his
memory his sisters; Rosa Juanita (Ernest) Piitman and Geneva Quinn of Pontiac, MI. As well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will also be missed by his longtime companion Marie Peg Milton, special friend Elaine Daniel and ex-wife Annie Brent. Willie was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Lorene Brent, sisters Almetta Brent and Barbara Johnson.
Mr. Brent will lie in repose on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan ftom 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. Mr. Brent's Home going celebration will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. The family will meet with friends at 10:30 a.m. at Cobb's Funeral Home prior to the service. Mr. Brent will be laid to rest at Perry Mt. Park Cemetery of Pontiac, Michigan.
