Willie Deloris Ferguson (Dee Dee) of Pontiac, Michigan departed this life on June 1, 2018. She leaves to cherish her memories, One Sister, Leola Walker (Pontiac); Five Children, Mary Etta Woods (Susie), Waylon Woods, Jr. (Bo/Chico), Robert Woods (Head), Terry Woods (Snoop), and Keith Woods (Pontiac); Eighteen Grandchildren, Courtney (Pontiac), Marlon (Pontiac), Mya (Raleigh), Lashawn (Pontiac), Diondra (New Orleans), Robin (Atlanta), Damien (New Orleans), Anita (Baton Rouge), Frank (New Orleans), Sharon (St. Francis Ville), Michael (New Orleans), Lynette (Baton Rouge), LaWanda (New Orleans), Timothy (Baton Rouge), Josh (Alanta), Deborah (Nuk) (Baton Rouge), Jonathan (Tune), (Baton Rouge), Lil Waylon III (New Orleans). Twenty One Great-Grandchildren, One Great-Great Grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Knight and Alice Dixon, One Brother, Woodrow Dixon, (Baton Rouge, LA,) Four Sisters, Elizabeth Dixon (Baton Rouge, LA), Ida Bowman (Pontiac, MI), Mary Gillard (Baton Rouge, LA), and Odessl Rogers (Baton Rouge, LA) and husband Howard Ferguson (Pontiac, MI).
Ms. Ferguson moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 17, where she became a Certified Chef at the Hydaburg Hotel, then married Waylon Woods, Sr. on November 12, 1956. In October 1962, she moved to Pontiac, Michigan with her family. She later joined Messiah Missionary Baptist Church on Auburn Road under Rev. Roy Cummings and became an Usher. During the time as an Usher, her health began to fail and she could no longer stand for a length of time. She was then appointed to the Mother's Board by Pastor Sylvester Thompson.
Ms. Ferguson will lie in repose on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road., Pontiac, Michigan. From 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. Ms. Ferguson's Celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church 15 Mark St., Pontiac, Michigan. The family will meet with friends at 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Pastor Sylvester Thompson officiating. Ms. Ferguson will be laid to rest at Perry Mount Park Cemetery of Pontiac, Michigan.
